EAP Critical Incident Response: Multi-Systemic Resiliency Approach

CE Hours 5.5

About this course

EAP CIR Responder Package

Be an EAP CIR Responder.  Since debuting at the Employee Assistance Professionals Association’s (EAPA) 2013 national conference in Colorado, the Multi-Systemic Resilience Approach (MRA) has become the premier training for Employee Assistance Program (EAP) organizations and Critical Incident Response (CIR) professionals. Its field-wide impact was formally recognized in Masi’s History of Employee Assistance Programs in the US (2020), which highlighted MSRA’s broad applicability across organizational settings.

MRA was designed to address a critical gap: conventional CIR models were often too rigid for the diverse workforce demographics and unique organizational cultures that EAPs support. Drawing from extensive CIR field experience and groundbreaking resilience research, Robert integrated the core stabilizing elements of Psychological First Aid (PFA) and stress-mitigation strategies with the innate human capacity for recovery. Because evidence shows that resilience is the standard outcome following traumatic events—frequently occurring without formal clinical interventions—MRA provides a framework that reinforces this natural recovery trajectory. Delivered through an EAP lens, the model maintains full alignment with both the EAP mission and key organizational partnerships.

As modern workplaces evolve toward remote and hybrid operations, response strategies must adapt accordingly. Virtual Critical Incident Response (VCIR), which expanded rapidly during COVID-19, continues to mature, equipping EAP professionals to effectively support increasingly distributed workforces.

Ultimately, MRA training focuses on practical preparation. Participants gain the foundational skills necessary to navigate complex, high-intensity environments with confidence. By leveraging systemic partnerships, MRA ensures CIR responders never operate in isolation—using collective organizational strength to stabilize impacted teams and efficiently restore workplace routines.
